Chris Edgar

Chris Edgar

After a career teaching Outdoor Activities, Geography and Environmental Education, Chris Edgar re-trained in Fine Art (1999 - 2003), through the Open College of Art and at the Leith School of Art, Edinburgh. She attained distinction at Foundation level in 2002, and in the following year, on completion of the Painting Course, again at the Leith School of Art, was awarded the Eliza Clifford Prize for excellence.

The love and exploration of remote and wild places has been an integral part of Chris’s life, and the landforms and features of the landscape, both natural and man made, are all a major influence and inspiration to her work.

Recently Chris has been working with Acrylic paints and inks, usually preparing a surface with a variety of collaged or torn papers, and sometimes with wax, glue, sand or fabric, to give a rich and interesting ground to paint on. Layers of colour follow.
