Dawn Cattanach
Since graduating in sculpture from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, Dawn Cattanach has worked extensively as a graphic designer and is based in the coastal village of Aberlady, East Lothian.
“I was inspired to start painting after tracing my family tree and discovering the many seafaring stories which peppered it, from the booming fishing industry of the 19th century to an account of surviving a shipwreck in mid-atlantic.
My interest lies in using bold shapes and lines, symbolism and strong colours to tell a story of our relationship with, and feelings about the sea.”
She was selected to show her work at The Royal Society of Marine Artists Annual Exhibition in London in 2013.
