Sandra Ogg

Sandra Ogg

Sandra’s love of ceramics and drawing on childhood memories are the foundations for her current illustration work.

She says, “I enjoy paring back fine line black and white illustrations to simple forms and shapes before adding intricate repeating patterns and occasional hints of colour. What emerges are fairytale birds and animals with geometric feathers and flowers for tails. The calmness in the beautiful shape of a pear sits next to hypnotic lines of chaos.“

As a ceramicist she developed her sculpture, hand-building and printmaking techniques, which have influenced her transition to ink and paper, leading her to write, illustrate and publish her children's picture book 'Grace and the Moon', a story about the childhood wonder and magic of thinking that anything is possible. She is in the process of developing her next book, 'The Colour Garden'.
