Anne Campbell
Born and brought up on the Isle of Lewis, Anne Campbell studied painting at Edinburgh College of Art before returning to the island to live. Her interest is in place: the land itself and the relationship between the land and the animals, birds and people who live on it or pass through. The paintings shown here are based on notes and sketches made while walking and working outdoors. The subtlety of light and variance in the seasonality of her surroundings suffuse the paintings with an intimate long known familiarity with the landscape and happenings of a Lewis village.
