Hans K Clausen

Hans K Clausen lives in Edinburgh where he has a studio at the Bill Scott Sculpture Centre in Newhaven. Following a career in social work and counselling Hans completed a Foundation Diploma at Leith School of Art followed by a BA (Hons) in Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 2012. In the same year, he won London’s Signature Art Prize for Sculpture and was shown at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh. Hans was an invited emerging artist at the Society of Scottish Artists Show in 2013 and participated in group shows at the Whisky Bond in Glasgow and the Doubtfire Gallery as part of the Edinburgh Art Festival.

2013 also saw him selected as one of the emerging artists of the year by two London publications, the Catlin Art Guide and Glass Magazine.

Alongside exhibition work Hans also has successful socially engaged art practice with residencies in Yorkhill Hospital in Glasgow, Lomond View Academy in Greenock, and a Creative Scotland art and science project in the Outer Hebrides which culminated in exhibitions at The Scottish Parliament and the island of Benbecula in 2015. Hans is currently engaged as an artist in a community health project in North Edinburgh, Arcadeum.
