R Mark Robertson

R Mark Robertson

After graduating from Edinburgh of College, where he spent his final year studying drawing and painting under Dame Elizabeth Blackadder, East Lothian born artist Mark Robertson spent several years teaching art, before leaving the profession to concentrate on his own work.

In many of his paintings Mark evokes the weathered colours, shapes, and textures of the landscape and architecture that have inspired him on his travels in Britain and Europe. A love of drawing underpins all his work, and this strong graphic influence is particularly evident in his still life and figurative paintings. His art is a celebration of the subtle spirituality of everyday life, and the inherent mysteriousness of people, places, and objects.

Mark has work in various private collections, and has been represented in the SSA, RSA, and RSW annual exhibitions. He lives and works in Edinburgh.
