Lynn McGregor RSW

Lynn McGregor RSW

Lynn McGregor was born in Fife and now lives in Argyll, where her studio overlooks Loch Awe. She trained at Edinburgh College of Art and was elected RSW in 2001.

The source of her work is landscape in memory. She works intuitively, seeking a balance between the various elements of texture, movement and geometry that she finds in the landscape around her, using energetic overlayerings of colour and blocking out shapes and marks as she works. Initially she allows herself to be led by the paint and the marks, then later takes control of the medium, hopefully without losing the initial immediacy. Her studio sits between a wooded hillside behind, and Loch Awe in front, and this setting is the source of her inspiration.

Lynn's work is shown in galleries throughout the UK and her paintings are held in numerous corporate and public collections including Robert Fleming Holdings Ltd, Edinburgh College of Art, Royal Bank of Scotland, National Trust for Scotland, Bank of Scotland, Scottish Arts Club, Royal College of Physicians and Eli Lilly Industries.
