Autumn in bronze & blue
18th October - 19th November 2023
In this exhibition, with its seasonal tone, we welcome Christian Moore for his second focused show with us and for the first time at Doubtfire, Lynn McGregor RSW. We think of Autumn as a time of changing colours, bronze and golden leaves, crisp clear blue skies and deeper blue early evenings. Christian’s bronze cold casting used in his trees and other subjects against clear textured landscapes contrast with Lynn’s colourful depiction of elements of the land – lines of birch, strands of the shoreline of blue lochs and hills beyond. Both artists work in rural locations in Scotland – Christian in Perthshire, Lynn in Argyll – and their love of their surroundings and the inspiration of this reflected in their art is clearly evident in this exhibition.

Lynn McGregor RSW
Lynn McGregor was born in Fife and now lives in Argyll, where her studio overlooks Loch Awe. She trained at Edinburgh College of Art and was elected RSW in 2001.
The source of her work is landscape in memory. She works intuitively, seeking a balance between the various elements of texture, movement and geometry that she finds in the landscape around her, using energetic overlayerings of colour and blocking out shapes and marks as she works. Initially she allows herself to be led by the paint and the marks, then later takes control of the medium, hopefully without losing the initial immediacy. Her studio sits between a wooded hillside behind, and Loch Awe in front, and this setting is the source of her inspiration.
Lynn's work is shown in galleries throughout the UK and her paintings are held in numerous corporate and public collections including Robert F ... Read More
Christian Moore
Christian Moore was born in 1981 on the Wirral in Northwest England, which is also where he grew up. After studying art at school and business at Liverpool University, the strength of his portfolio earned him a position on the roster of a leading illustration agent in London, where he worked for a decade. During that time, he had the privilege of producing creative work for many notable fashion brands and magazines, such as Chanel, Tatler, Hugo Boss, Vogue and many more.
Christian made the decision to leave London and move to Edinburgh in 2019, and then Perthshire in 2021 to raise his family. The change of lifestyle and his immersion in the beauty of the nature around him inspired him to experiment with different mediums. This allowed him to further develop his distinctive style and also to build up a collection of beautifully presented art for exhibition.
